First Drafts is a new segment where we have public conversations on big issues with guest ranging from people on the street to workers, activists, academics, politicians, and others from across the social, political, and ideological spectrum. These are casual conversations meant to explore ideas in public without the pressure of having the right answer or having a good take. To emphasize that we’re more interested in authenticity than error, we allow each guest to strike any part of the conversation they’re uncomfortable with. These aren’t interviews, we don’t expect definitive or polished answers, or even complete ideas. These are first draft explorations.
In this first episode, Liano talks with Carina Freeman of the FREED Peoples, a Grand Rapids non-profit focused on political education. We discuss, freedom, democracy, economics, and theory of change.
